Okafor goes home

Uche Okafor returns to Imo in Nigeria

Funeral rites for the deceased former international Uche Okafor will begin on Thursday in his home state of Imo in eastern Nigeria.

The body of the late Uche, who died in mysterious circumstances in January, was flown home on Tuesday and will lie in state at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

A commemorative football match between an Imo All Stars team and Uche's former Super Eagles team mates will be played immediately after, before the body will be taken to his hometown of Ubomiri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

Nigeria coach Samson Siasia is among a high-profile list of former Super Eagles players who will attend. Others include Ben Iroha, Mutiu Adepoju, Alloy Agu, Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi, Ike Shorunmu, Alloy Agu and Victor Ikpeba.
