Super Eagles won against Madagascar

Nigeria began the qualifiers for the 2012 African Nations Cup with a stroll in the park as they beat Madagascar 2-0 in Calabar.Although the 2-0 victory was not as comprehensive as expected and could have been still more emphatic, the Eagles can smile home with three points in the bag.

The Eagles started brightly and could have taken the lead as early as the first minute but Michael Eneramo stumbled when it mattered most. However,Rubin Kazan's forward,Obafemi Martins, who was lively throughout the game opened scoring in the 19th minute, when he out-sprinted his marker to slot the ball home with his weaker right foot.

In-form Esperance striker Michael Eneramo added a second for the Eagles in first half injury time.Martins did all the work down the left flank and found his strike partner who finished with a simple tap-in from close range.

No further goals in the second half .However, two of Nigeria's brightest talents Ahmed Musa and Stanley Okoro, made their competitive debut in the second half.

Early days, but the Eagles' are behind Guinea in the group on goal difference.Playing away,Guinea defeated Ethiopia 4-1 to go top of the group.Nigeria meet Guinea on October 10 in Conakry.
