It has now been rescheduled for March 29 while the NFF find an alternative, African opponent for February 9.
"We have been forced to postpone the game to the next Fifa window on March 29," NFF Chief Media Officer Ademola Olajire said.
"The investors were uncomfortable about the spate of negative media reports and were not prepared to put down over $200 000 with all that uncertainty."
The NFF announced last month it had secured a friendly with Guatemala in Miami Florida, but following a series of media reports, it emerged that no agreement had been reached with the Guatemala federation, who told various media outlets that while they were aware of interest, nothing concrete had been decided on.
