The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says it is monitoring developments in Libya because its national U-20 team in the country on a two-match tour.
The Flying Eagles are currently in the second city Benghazi, where the games are being played. But an anti-government protest by residents of the city on Wednesday has the Nigerians worried.
The Nigerian embassy in Libya has also advised the team on places the players should steer clear of.
A statement from the NFF says it is keeping a close watch on the situation.
The Flying Eagles are due to play their final game of the tour on Wednesday before flying off to Turkey for more warm-up matches.
They will then return to Libya in three weeks for the African Youth Championship which the North Africa country will stage from 18 March.
A wave of anti-government demonstrations across the region has led to the disruption of several sporting events in both Egypt and Tunisia.
