Ousama Darragi of Esperance scored the third and final goa |
Tunisia are the new holders of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) crown.
They won the international tournament for locally-based players with a 3-0 victory over Angola in the final in Sudan on Friday. After a largely dull first half, Tunisia burst into life with a trio of goals in the second period.
They become the second winners of the CHAN title, following DR Congo two years ago.
Mejdi Traoui got the opening goal of the game a couple of minutes into the second half when he latched onto a powerful cross to power home.
Angola had been relying on their defence throughout the tournament and they still proved tough opponents for Tunisia, but the lead was sealed for the North Africans 15 minutes from time when Zouhaier Dhaouiadi scored on the counter attack.
And five minutes later, substitute Ousama Darragi made sure of the title for Tunisia when he made it 3-0.
The game in Omdurman was played out in front of a half-full stadium and was preceded by a spectacular and noisy closing ceremony.
