Amokachi eyes Kano Pillars post

Daniel Amokachi wants to return to coaching.
Daniel Amokachi has expressed interest in taking over Nigeria Premier League side Kano Pillars in place of coach Salisu Yusuf, who has left for the national team.
“Yes, Amokachi has contacted me to say he will be interested in handling Pillars,” Pillars chairman, Tukur Babangida, told MTNFootball.com.
Former international Amokachi has coached Nasarawa United and Enyimba and he was one of the assistants to Lars Lagerback at last year’s World Cup in South Africa.
‘The Bull’ has had a chequered coaching career and he is presently a pundit for pay TV channel Supersport.
Babangida had told MTNFootball.com that long-term assistant coach Baba Ganaru will be promoted to the top post to replace Yusuf, but he has now admitted the club are looking elsewhere for a new head coach.
“Yes, we are now looking out for a coach. We have already spoken to Kadiri Ikhana,” Babangida disclosed.
“The problem is that we do not have money to pay any coach now as our budget for our continental campaign has yet to be released.”
Pillars will begin their CAF Champions League campaign at the end of the month with a trip to Liberia’s Mighty Barolle.
“We may likely contract a coach who will be willing to only take allowances and bonuses,” added the Pillars boss.
Besides Amokachi and Ikhana, experienced Ghanaian coach Malik Jabir has also been linked with a return to Pillars.
Jabir was with the club in the early stages of the 2009 Champions League campaign before the Slovenian Ivo Sajh took over.
Sajh will go on to guide Pillars to the last four of the Champions League and has restated his desire to also return to the team.
