Siasia, 43, unveiled the names of the players that will battle for the starting 11 when Nigeria play host to the East Africans in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Abuja during a press conference on Thursday. Real Zaragoza striker, Ikechukwu Uche, makes a return to the Nigerian men’s national team after a nine-month layoff due to injury.
AC Milan youngster, Nnamdi Oduamadi, was also handed his first call to the Super Eagles by Siasia.
Others called up by the Nigerian coach are goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama and Dele Aiyenugba as well as Taye Taiwo, Joseph Yobo, Olubayo Adefemi, Efe Ambrose, Elderson Echiejile, Dele Adeleye and Nwankwo Obiorah.
Others are former Warri Wolves’ striker Fengor Ogude, Joel Obi, Kalu Uche, Ahmed Musa, Victor Anichebe, Peter Utaka, Obinna Nsofor, Osaze Odemwingie, Solomon Okoronkwo, Obafemi Martins and John Mikel Obi.
However, two players from the Nigeria Premier League (NPL), Chibuzor Okonkwo of Heartland and Ehiosun Ekigho of Warri Wolves complete the 24-man team.
Siasia said Fenerbahce defender, Yobo, still remains the captain of the team.
“Joseph Yobo is still captain of the team,” Siasia told SuperSport.com. “Nothing has changed about that. He will be captain for the game against Ethiopia.”
The Super Eagles’ camp will open on March 14 in Abuja ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier but the foreign-based players are not expected until March 20.
