Joseph Yobo to set Nigerian record
Nigeria captain, Joseph Yobo is on the verge of setting a new all-time appearance record for his nation's team.
Yobo has won 86 caps for the Super Eagles and has equalled the all-time appearance record held by Late Mudashiru Lawal and former captain, Nwankwo Kanu.
The 86th cap of the former Olympique Marseille man came in the Eagles 2-0 win over Zambia in Kaduna on November 15, 2011.
Now the Fenerbahce centre-back is in line to make his 87th appearance for Nigeria when they face Rwanda in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying at the Stade Regionale de Nyamirambo this Wednesday.
The game will also mark Yobo's 11th year in the Nigerian men's national team since he made his debut in 2001.
However, Yobo faces a battle for a first-team place in the heart of Nigeria's defence against Rwanda from two Nigeria Premier League (NPL) stars, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Papa Idris.
